Lydia is 1 of the most commonly known followers in Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, but she tin too be the about difficult to keep rail of. She intentionally takes a longer, just less complicated, road to follow you, making it hard for y'all to know where she is at all times. Unlike some other followers, Lydia is not essential (immortal), and can be killed without you knowing about it. But with her unlimited pointer supply, heavy armor, and the fact that she appears early in the game, she might be worth the trouble for beginner players. Luckily, whether she is lost or dead, you tin can find and bring back your housecarl with several methods! Note that console commands but work on PC, so y'all cannot revive her if yous're not using a PC.

  1. 1

Look dorsum to where you last saw her. Sometimes NPCs may get stuck in particularly crude terrain while post-obit you. Or, she might accept been killed (Lydia'south body does not disappear from the place where she died). She might have also been preoccupied with hostile NPCs or enemies, which she may accept attacked.

    • Try to get back on the aforementioned route that you took. She might just be tiresome while running after you, and so you might even bump into her when going back to find her!
    • She will go along fighting even if you lot run abroad from enemies.
  2. 2

Think about whether you told her to stay somewhere or not. If you tell her to stay in a certain spot, she will stay in that same spot for a few in-game days and won't move for that time period. Unfortunately, console commands don't work on consoles. If yous relieve your game often and lose a follower, yous'll be able to load a previous save where they are still alive. That mode you won't accept to make a new relieve file.

  • Always save before using console commands, merely in case something goes incorrect.

  • Lydia tends to follow a more than simpler path to follow you, so try not to go through mountains ridges and otherwise difficult terrain.

  • If you killed her yourself, she will not be hostile toward you upon resurrection. Just brand sure yous ask her to follow you again.

  • You tin get Lydia later completing this quest and becoming Thane of Whiterun. If you buy the firm Breezehome, Lydia will come up with the house as a housecarl, where y'all can inquire her to follow yous.

  • Y'all tin prevent Lydia from dying by finishing off foes for her. Enemies will initially avoid attacking all followers when their wellness is low (you lot will know if the followers start kneeling), merely if there are no other targets, the enemies will showtime attacking your follower again.

  • If she is dead and you take items from her inventory, and so revive her, she will accept those items reappear in her inventory.

  • Give her ameliorate armor/weapons (she works well with heavy armor) past selecting the dialogue selection to trade with her. If you give her items, she will equip the one with the nigh harm or armor rating.

  • If she dies, a courier will give yous nigh 300 septims' worth of golden because of her volition (minus 30 because of the Jarl's revenue enhancement). Just accept the money and revive her again for no loss.

  • Don't rely on panel commands all the time to find or revive her. If, for some reason, console commands aren't working, you'll be stuck without Lydia.

  • Try not to employ console commands to bring her to you or revive her when you are on highly sloped or uneven terrain. This might ruin the orientation of her body. Drag her torso to a smoother area. As e'er, salvage before using any commands!
